Made by ceramic masters, these large bowls, which can be used for tea, drinks, soups or appetizers, each have a different colour and finishes , in homage to some of the most famous Japanese ceramic styles. The small colour variations compared to the image are due to the manual stages of the glazing and firing process, which cannot be controlled, and make each object unique. These bowls are produced in the ceramic factories of Gifu, the ‘ceramic valley’ in the heart of Japan, which boasts a tradition dating back to the 13th century, handed down from father to son. Mino yaki is the name given to Gifu porcelain and ceramics, which account for 50% of Japanese production.
Simplicity and elegance are the hallmarks of traditional Japanese pottery, which reached its zenith around 400 years ago, thanks to the popularity gained by the tea ceremony.
