What is undoubtedly one of the most famous ballets of all time is the retelling of the fairy tale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by Ernst Theodor Hoffmann. On the night of Christmas Eve, little Marie receives a splendid wooden nutcracker with human features as a gift.
