Producing countries

In 2021, global world tea production has raised 6 million tons.

The main producing countries are China, India, Kenya and Sri Lanka and together they represent over 75% of the world's production. Although mainly grown in Asia until the end of the 18th Century, the increasing demand has spread tea cultivation around the world.

Now there are more than 40 producing countries, including Turkey, Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan, Nepal, Korea, Malawi, South Africa, Mozambique, Brazil and Argentina. Each country has its production areas with unique and peculiar terroir and each tea has a completely different character, aroma and flavour.

La Via del Tè produces Italian tea in Premosello on Lake Maggiore where the second largest plantation in Europe and the first one in Italy is set.
